Last Saturday, PenangTuaPui went to Miss Saigon for a food review courtesy of the owner. Miss Saigon has just launched their new menu focussing on Vietnamese Street food. Well, since our first review on Miss Saigon some time back, the feedback wasn’t that good and in fact it led to quite a heated argument then with one particular reader accusing us of not knowing how to enjoy Vietnamese food.

Hmm, well we’re not true blue, pure Vietnamese but we sure know what are good foods and what are not. Our previous visits had us wondering what the hell went wrong with the food standard in Penang when we expected the best, the best wasn’t given but merely mediocre standard. Looking at the dishes really made us wonder then if we had stepped into the right restaurant in the first place.

After all, we got the message from the owner of Miss Saigon that eventually invited us for the review again in conjunction with their newly launched menu. Well, nothing is permanent and change is the only constant right? After all, if the owners are genuinely looking for feedback to improve their standards, it should be a good thing, right? 

What we could say from this round’s of food review is that Miss Saigon has improved quite a lot on the menu and the presentation as well as on the freshness of the ingredients. The varieties were splendid with choices of chicken and beef of the same dish, giving the flexibility for the customers who don’t take beef but would still want the similar dish.

From bad to good, because we did see the improvement but there’s always room for improvement. One thing we kind of dislike was the price of each dishes. They’re quite pricey for the dishes we had especially when most of them are basically snacks not meant to make you full. Based on our discussions with the owner, the reason of having slightly higher price dishes was due to the fact it needed more time to prepare, hence the steeper price. But from customers poin of view, we don’t care or don’t bother how long that’s going to take to prepare as long as the food tasted nice and affordable. 

Perhaps this is something Miss Saigon can work out to reach to more affordable market especially with recent economic uncertainties where people are tightening the budget and at the same time still able to make healthy margin to remain a F&B player in Penang market.

Obama won by securing 349 seats against McCain who was voted with 162 votes. The required numbers to win was 270 which Obama won with wide margin. With this win, Obama must quickly appoint and fill up the job in the administration with Illinois Rep. Rahm Emanuel as White House chief of staff as the first appointment.

So far based on historical data, Republicans normally engaged in war just like what Bush Sr and his son did. And there are less wars during Democrats’ helm. Hahaha Yes, we’re delighted cause this is the first gift that we ever received from Foodbuzz. Wow, Tune Hotel is offering rooms from RM1.00 per night for their budget hotels in Kuala Lumpur and Kota Kinabalu. Now with the budget hotels coming into play after, this will certainly give a run to all those luxury hotels and also other budget hotels around. Also, there will be new Tune Hotels opening in Penang, LCCT Sepang and Kuching. Talking about market penetration and aggresive marketing.

 Booking is quite straight forward and easy, just like the similar interface we have seen on AirAsia website. Well, if you have not used before, just focus on the “Book Now” section. You will need to key in details like City, Arrival Date, Number of Nights, Number of Rooms and then click “GO“. If you had signed up before as a member, you can click on the second “GO” button, else click on the first one.

Once completed, you will go to the next page which request you to choose the type of room based on the availability.

Since this is no frills budget hotel, hotel rooms typically come with bare essential items. You will need to purchase additional add ons for your convenience like air conditioning, wireless internet access etc. Hey, after all, it’s already budget lioa, right?

I did not select any add on so I thought I would need to pay only RM2, correct? Wrong!! The actual amount I need to pay is RM23.12. Huh, how come it’s soooo much difference compared to RM2 as mentioned earlier? Something wrong with the system ar?? How come like that one??? 

Again, if you have travelled via Air Asia before, you’ll know the the price itself referred to the room without additional compulsory “add on“. Which means you need to bear in mind RM2 is only the promotional price which did not include the administration fee that can be many times higher than the the promotional fees as in my case the admin fee was RM19.81.

Now, that is not the end of the story yet. If you choose to pay by credit card, there may be a fee involved. Don’t say that you have not been warned.

Luckily, for now, no fee surchage is imposed if you decide to pay by credit card. But if they can come with a small statement like that, it’s only a matter of time before they start charging you.

No frills budget hotel or airlines have their advantages as they provide only what you need but at the most bare essential. If you ever need additional things, you’ll need to pay for it. That is okay as this is what you suppose to do.. pay per what you use. 

But what is deceiving is the promotional price that being highlighted many times and purposely where as it is NOT the the actual final price. I would personally prefer that these budget hotels put their final price as RM23.12 (inclusive tax + surchage) so that I know what i’m paying for than to falsely claim the room price is only RM2. Call it marketing tactic but I call it cheating!

I am amazed by their service and great server performance as I never feel any lagging during surfing the site.

But today I saw the site is being HACKED by hacker… OMG…. I can’t believe it….

This is the 2nd time….. gosh… so violent act..!!!

But I wonder if it is being HACKED or server down…… wonder…

If it is true, being the best tech base web site being hacked is very sad and embarrassing…….

Then what? Hmm… We’re talking about unseen beauty, things that we sometimes take for granted or things that we could not feel it was beautiful from the angle above … “See the unseen” is what I am going to share some unseen beauty captured using our lovely camera. No special setting, no special apparatus, they are all natural….
